PIAA H-4 Series Bulb
Product Highlight Details
PIAA's Platinum Series H-4 bulb features PIAA Super White Technology, which is SAE and DOT approved for light color (white). Meeting these standards is critical as they make the H-4 style headlamp upgrade bulbs legal in all 50 states and Canada. The light is far whiter and brighter than an ordinary Halogen H-4 series replacement bulb. While the above image of the bulb appears slightly blue in color, the projected light is actually very white in color.

The Platinum Series bulbs approach the color and intensity of the new H.I.D. (High Intensity Discharge) headlights found on many of the latest model luxury cars like BMW, Mercedes Benz and Porsche but at a fraction of the cost.

The PIAA Platinum Super White bulbs are rated at 3800 Kelvin. The new PIAA Xtreme White bulbs are rated at 4150 Kelvin. The Kelvin rating is a measure of a lights color temperature not heat temperature. As an example, the sun is rated at 5250 Kelvin and an ordinary halogen bulb is rated at 3200 Kelvin. The higher the Kelvin, the closer the light is to approaching natural sun light.

These are not what many consider to be of the "vanity blue color" bulbs. These PIAA brand bulbs will enhance your overall visiblity on the road ahead instead of the curb side "look at me" appeal of the "blue bulbs" you might have heard of. The color blue does not make for a very bright light. The color white on the other hand, contains the entire spectrum of color and has the highest reflectivity properties available. While blue might look cool to some, blue is not a color that performs well at higher speeds or in adverse weather conditions.

The PIAA Super White H-4 Series bulb is rated as a 55w/60w bulb. 55 watt low beam and 60 watt high beam yet, they project a much whiter light with a similar intensity as an ordinary 100 watt low beam and 110 watt high beam bulb without the added electrical draw or heat.

The new Xtreme White bulbs are rated as a 55w/60w bulb. 55 watt low beam and 60 watt high beam yet, they project an even whiter light than the Super Whites and have a similar intensity as an ordinary 125 watt low beam and 135 watt high beam bulb without the added electrical draw or heat.

An ordinary H-4 Halogen replacement bulb would appear yellow in color when compared side by side to a PIAA Platinum series Super White or Xtreme White bulb.

A light that is whiter in color will offer better reflectivity off of road signs, painted highway lines and road markers as well as giving better depth perception because of higher contrast.

This replacement headlight bulb is widely used in automotive application, almost every modern motorcycle application as well as snowmobile and other recreational vehicles. This is a dual filament bulb meaning the high beam and low beam are enclosed in a single unit.

*Please note that you should always run the equivilant wattage rated bulb that came as stock equipment. Increasing wattage over a factory specification can possibly cause damage to wiring, connectors and reflectors. Higher wattage bulbs also possess a shorter life span due to the higher operating tempratures.
