| The Honda bulbs have the two lower locator tabs in a slightly different position (pictured on the left) than a standard H-4 bulb like a PIAA Super White bulb (pictured on the right) or ones you can purchase at any automotive store.
Before our adapters, the common practice was to bend back or snip off the two lower tabs. The problem that exists is that those tabs are required to keep the bulb in the proper location and align properly in the housing. Without the lower tabs the bulbs can slip in the housing projecting your healight beam in a less than advantageous angle. Now you don't have to rely on a Honda dealer being close by if your bulb inadvertantly burns out. You'll be saving money on your first H-4 bulb purchase. For the cost of two new ordinary H-4 bulbs and our adapter plate, you can save the cost of what the adapter plate is alone before having to fork over the cash for the expensive Honda proprietary bulb. Works with any H-4 bulb. We highly recommend the PIAA Super White Bulb upgrade. Our adapter also allows you to run higher wattage bulbs. However, we do not recommend going over a maximum of 55w/60w bulb as damage may occur to the wiring if you run higher intensity wattage bulbs. A 55w/60w bulb adds only 10 watts more at low beam and 15 watts at high beam over your stock 45w/45w bulb. |
This adapter plate fits on top of an ordinary H-4 bulb to convert it to the Honda proprietary socket housing. Just snip off the two lower tabs of an ordinary H-4 bulb and fit our plate on top of it to replicate the Honda style tab positions.
Works on almost any Honda motorcycle with a dual-beam headlight set up that requires a Honda specific bulbs. Works on some Suzuki and Kawasaki models as well. Saves you money by eliminating the expense of the Honda proprietary bulb. You can tell if your bulbs require our adapter plate by looking at the two lower tab locations. If they are up above the flattened section, as pictured on the left, then you need this adapter plate to run a common H-4 bulb. | |
